Woman arrested after reports of items being thrown from flat
A WOMAN who has allegedly been throwing litter from her flat in Pasir Ris, much to the ire of neighbours, was arrested on Wednesday after items such as an umbrella, a bamboo pole and a clothes hanger were found at the foot of the block.
The incident occurred at about 2.40pm at Block 513, Pasir Ris Street 52, Chinese newspaper Shin Min Daily News reported yesterday.
Lu Baoxiang, a resident in the block who is self-employed, told Shin Min that the woman lives alone.
"She would throw things out of her window daily, including leftover stuff, umbrellas, old clothes, styrofoam boxes, metal pots and other items.
"Some days, she can do this four to five times," he said.
The woman's behaviour reportedly took a turn for the worse after her husband died of a heart attack about five years ago.
On Tuesday night at about 10pm, a bamboo pole used to hang laundry was thrown downstairs, said Mr Lu.
The next morning, an entire laundry rack was thrown too.
The rack and pole belonged to resident Madam Wang, 80, who expressed shock that her neighbour would throw not only her own items but someone else's too.
Police told My Paper yesterday that they received a call requesting for assistance at the block at 2.43pm on Wednesday.
A 59-year-old woman was arrested for a "rash act".
Police investigations are ongoing.
