Van's COE costs more than car's
IN A rare turn of events, the certificate of entitlement (COE) premium for vans, buses and trucks ended higher than those for both car categories at the latest tender yesterday.
COE cost for cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp rose by 4.7 per cent to close at $45,000.
That for cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp climbed by 1.3 per cent to finish at $47,604.
COE premiums for commercial vehicles, however, sprinted ahead to close 8.6 per cent higher at $48,890 - a seven-month high. The last time this premium ended higher than those for both car categories was in 2009 when an oversupply of the latter depressed prices.
Open COE cost climbed 6.6 per cent to $48,002.
Motorbike premium rose 2.4 per cent to end at $6,503.
