Truck badly smashed up after hitting trailer
A CONSTRUCTION truck was badly damaged after it crashed into the back of a trailer carrying two bulldozers yesterday morning.
The accident, which occurred along the two-lane Changi Coast Road, was due to the truck attempting to switch lanes.
It is understood that the trailer had stopped on the left lane as one of its tyres was punctured.
The trailer's driver, who wanted to be known only as Mr Tan, had alighted from his vehicle in an attempt to put out triangular warning signs.
According to the truck's driver, Nallaya Thavamani, there was another truck directly in front of him which had filtered out to the right lane.
Mr Nallaya, who was following close behind, failed to notice the stationary trailer and crashed into it.
The trailer did not appear to suffer any visible damage while the front left portion of the truck was badly smashed.
Its contents and entire windscreen mirror were strewn all over the road.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said it was alerted to the accident at around 10.40am.
A man in his 30s suffered minor injuries and refused to be taken to hospital, the spokesman added.
It was not clear which driver had been injured.
