Taiwanese slices off girlfriend's nose, ears, lip
A JEALOUS 79-year-old Taiwanese man decided to give his girlfriend a "makeover" - by cutting off her nose, ears and upper lip, and flushing them down the toilet - after he found out that another man was courting her.
The woman was treated at a Changhua hospital and is in stable condition. However, doctors say she is an emotional wreck.
The man, surnamed Huang, used a small knife to pare off the woman's facial features in the middle of the night, while she was fast asleep.
Huang had tied her to the bed with rope.
After finishing his grisly act, he flushed the woman's body parts down the toilet.
Huang then called for an ambulance.
The 47-year-old woman, surnamed Chu, arrived at the hospital in a hysterical state on Wednesday and was taken to the intensive care unit for immediate treatment.
Doctors were shocked when they saw Chu. They said that because her facial features had been contaminated after being flushed down the toilet, it would be difficult to perform reconstructive surgery.
If the body parts had been brought to the hospital with her, plastic surgeons would have been able to help repair her face.
Chu's wounds were all very clean and precise, the doctors said, which suggests that Huang knew what he was doing.
The doctors called the police after examining Chu and becoming suspicious over the nature of her injuries.
For the past six months, Huang had been paying Chu NT$100,000 (S$4,200) monthly to be his companion. He even paid for her trip to Japan last month.
The Changhua police said the couple had a heated argument after Chu told Huang about a man who was courting her.
Huang wrote Chu a note on Oct 19, in which he threatened her with a "bloodbath" if she was found interacting with other men.
According to reports, Huang had been planning his revenge for some time.
