Sleeping thief wakes up in handcuffs
A BURGLAR planning to rob a Florida home stole a little nap instead and ended up in handcuffs, officials said on Wednesday.
The man - apparently overcome with exhaustion - lay down on a bed at the home during a burglary on Monday, and fell into a deep sleep, said the local sheriff's department.
A cleaner at the house, outside the town of Sarasota, found the napping thief and called the police.
The authorities took photos of the thief, identified as Dion Davis, 29, moments before placing him under arrest.
The police said that when they arrived, he was still in a deep slumber, lying next to a plastic bag filled with the jewellery he had intended to steal.
