Roll-out of new SingPass hit by 'high traffic'
THE launch of an enhanced SingPass was interrupted by an extended period of maintenance, which left users unable to sign up for the service.
A spokesman for the Infocomm Development Authority, which manages SingPass, said the maintenance was due to high traffic and that the SingPass team was working to resolve it.
The new SingPass was launched on Sunday. It has enhanced security features, such as two-factor authentication, to better protect sensitive transactions.
However, the SingPass website was down for maintenance from about 10pm on Sunday night, according to some users.
Users have to go to www.singpass.gov.sg and log in to verify their details and sign up for the new SingPass. As of 10.30am yesterday, the website was still undergoing maintenance.
A message on the SingPass website said maintenance was in progress and apologised for inconvenience caused.
