Road closures on New Year's Eve

IF YOU don't want to usher in the new year while stuck in a car, make sure you avoid certain roads in town and in Boon Lay this New Year's Eve.

Marina Way, Central Boulevard and Boon Lay Place will be closed for two countdown events: Marina Bay Singapore Countdown and Countdown@Boon Lay.

Twenty-seven bus services will also be diverted to neighbouring roads, and will skip some stops along their regular routes.

The disruption in the Marina Bay and Boon Lay areas will start from 6pm for SBS Transit bus services. It will start from 11pm for SMRT bus services in the Marina Bay area. The diversions will end at 1am the next day.

SBS Transit Nite Owl services will start from the bus stop in front of St Andrew's Cathedral instead of Raffles Avenue.

Bus services 307 and 975 will skip some bus stops near Lot One Shoppers' Mall from 7.30pm to 12.30am, due to the Community Countdown at Keat Hong event.

Those attending the countdown events need not worry about how to get home. Train and feeder-bus services by SMRT will be extended.

The last trains towards Joo Koon, Pasir Ris and Jurong East will depart City Hall Station at 2.15am, and the last train towards Marina Bay at 2.01am.

Those heading towards HarbourFront and Dhoby Ghaut can catch the last trains at Circle Line terminals at 1.38am.
