    Postpone trips to flood-hit Chennai: MFA

    SINGAPOREANS are advised to postpone all non-essential travel to Chennai, India, in the light of severe flooding in most areas of the city.

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a travel notice yesterday, said that all flight operations at the city's airport have been suspended as the airport has been closed. It added that train and bus services have been disrupted.

    "Singaporeans already in Chennai are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions to ensure personal safety at all times," the notice said.

    Singaporeans travelling to or living in the city are encouraged to register with the ministry at so they can be contacted in the event of an emergency.
