Police report lodged after man assaults 2 security officers

THE Union of Security Employees (USE) has lodged a police report after a video of a man assaulting two security officers went viral.

The 38-second video, uploaded by All Singapore Stuff on Facebook on Friday, has since chalked up 103,000 views and more than 2,000 shares.

In the video, a man clad in an orange T-shirt can be seen throwing punches at a security guard after a brief conversation.

Another security guard was similarly attacked when he tried to restrain the man from hitting his colleague. It was understood that the incident took place at a condominium in Kovan on Feb 21.

Social media users have condemned the actions of the man, alleged to be a security manager. One of the security officers was also described as a 62-year-old man with walking difficulties.

In a Facebook post yesterday morning, USE said its officers had visited the security guards at the site of the incident to offer assistance.

"Despite the security officers declining to speak to the union, we informed the security officers that they can contact the union if they change their minds," USE wrote in the post.

"Any form of abuse towards the officers is unacceptable to the union and we will help the victims to the best of our ability."

USE president Hareenderpal Singh lodged a report to ask the police to investigate the matter.
