NDP back in Kallang after 10 years
THE Kallang Wave made a roaring homecoming in the place where it originated, as Singapore celebrated its 51st birthday yesterday at the National Stadium after a decade's absence.
A futuristic theme underlined the event at Kallang, with drones, lasers and 3D light projections being used to create eye-catching visual displays.
The 55,000-odd spectators also, for the first time, sang songs in sign language at the parade, to symbolise the country's aspiration to be an inclusive society.
It was led by participants with special needs.
Crowds also gathered around the stadium to catch
the spectacular outdoor fireworks as the two-hour
show drew to a close.
