Man, 79, dies in three-car crash, eight injured
A 79-YEAR-OLD man died and eight others were injured in a three-car accident at the junction of Sengkang Central and Buangkok Drive yesterday.
The accident, which took place at around 12.30pm, involved a Hyundai driven by the man, a Volvo and a taxi.
Condominium manager Albert Lim, 56, told The Straits Times that he and his colleague were heading out for lunch in the Volvo, and were travelling along Buangkok Drive towards the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway, when the Hyundai sped across the junction into their path.
The front part of their car was badly damaged. The Hyundai spun upon impact and hit a taxi nearby, said Mr Lim.
Two other men and four women were injured.
Seven of those injured were taken conscious to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Police investigations are ongoing.
