Make a quick escape to win $17,000 worth of prizes

THE feeling of being trapped can certainly be unnerving. But what if you could win $1,200 worth of shopping gift cards and lifestyle products as the top prize for a successful escape?

Enter The Ultimate Escape Room Challenge.

From March 13 to 22, the challenge features a themed arena each at Northpoint, YewTee Point and Causeway Point: one set in the past, another in the present and the last in the future. Players have to work together in solving puzzles to navigate a path in an enclosed space.

Up to $17,000 worth of Frasers Centrepoint Malls gift cards and Osim products in total are up for grabs.

To enter the challenge organised by Frasers Centrepoint Malls, simply register for free as a team of three with all members present at either Northpoint or YewTee Point, and flash the new My Paper mobile app launched last month or a copy of the contest's advertisement in My Paper.

The qualifying rounds will take place on March 14 and 15 at Northpoint and YewTee Point, and the top eight teams will move on to the finals at Causeway Point on March 22. There will also be a slew of March holiday redemption promotions from March 13 to 29 at the malls.

Since they first appeared here in 2012, escape room games - which originated from Japan - have become popular, particularly among young adults and executives.

But unlike other escape room games, The Ultimate Escape Room Challenge focuses more on completing the tasks together as a team. Participants must solve all the puzzles and "escape" within 15 minutes for the qualifying rounds, and 10 minutes for the finals.

Shoppers who have not registered for the challenge can try their hand at The Ultimate Escape Room Challenge on a non-competitive level from March 13 to 22 at Northpoint and YewTee Point, and from March 16 to 22 at Causeway Point, in teams comprising at least two members. They will tackle a different set of puzzles from the competitive players.
