Jail for instructor who partook in underage sex
A DANCE instructor found his friend having sex with a drunken 15-year-old at a skate park - but instead of trying to help the victim, he "took advantage" of her, a district court heard yesterday.
Muhammad Hairuniezam Marwi, 24, was jailed for seven months after pleading guilty to having oral sex with the underage girl. He and a group of friends had been drinking cocktails with her at the skate park beside *Scape in Somerset Road one evening in July 2012.
At around 11pm, his friend, Ryan Nicholas Shah, said he intended to go behind a wall to urinate. The girl joined him.
After some time, Hairuniezam went to look for them and found them having sex. He asked the girl to perform an oral act on him and she obliged.
An hour later, the two men sent her home in a taxi. Her mother found her lying on the ground at the front door. The girl told her mother what had happened and her parents called the police.
The victim's blood and urine samples were analysed four hours after the incident and were found to contain a high level of alcohol.
District Judge Lee Poh Choo said it was an aggravating factor that Hairuniezam - who was 22 at the time - knew his victim was only 15 years old and intoxicated.
"Instead of helping her or trying to save her, he took advantage of the situation," she said.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Elizabeth Chua had pointed out that the offence occurred in a "public place''.
Shah, 27, has been charged with five offences involving the victim and another 14-year-old girl. His case will be mentioned on Feb 24.
