Jail for fanatic who stole car emblems

A CAR fanatic who stole car emblems was jailed two weeks yesterday.

Timothy Cheong Zhan Yuan, 25, had stolen emblems from vehicles belonging to his neighbours at the carpark of Tanamera Crest condominium in Changi. He and his friend, Jamie Koh Guan Hoe, 38, committed a total of 15 offences.

It was heard in court that Koh went to Cheong's condominium at around 3am on Dec 12 last year.

Cheong handed a knife to Koh, who used it to prise off the emblems from a BMW car.

They then targeted other cars, including an Audi that had its in-car recorder switched on. Its owner recognised Cheong as her neighbour.

Two days later, they struck at the Grand Park Orchard Hotel carpark. They were arrested on Dec 18 last year.

Koh pleaded guilty in September and had since completed his two weeks' imprisonment term.
