Fit for trial: Mother of dead boy found off Bedok Jetty
THE woman charged with murdering her baby son, who was found in the sea off Bedok Jetty in November, has been found to be of unsound mind at the time of the incident.
But the prosecution said yesterday that Lim Ann Nee, 44, is currently fit to go on trial. Psychiatrists at the Institute of Mental Health conducted several tests on her recently.
The prosecution successfully applied for her to be remanded at the Central Police Division so that she can assist in investigations.
Lim was pulled out of the water off East Coast Park by the Police Coast Guard at about 6pm on Nov 25. The body of her 17-month-old son, Emilien Lacroix, was found floating about 300m from the jetty three hours later, after being spotted by a passenger on a passing boat.
She is married to Frenchman Sebastien Lacroix. The couple, who live in Singapore, have an older son as well.
Lim will be back in court on Tuesday. If convicted of murder, the unemployed woman could be hanged or jailed for life.
