Body found hanging from tree in Republic Ave
THE decomposed body of a man in his 30s was found along Republic Avenue on Sunday.
A male jogger had discovered the body hanging high up in a tree as he passed through a forested area nearby and alerted police, according to Lianhe Wanbao.
The paper also reported that the body, which had turned black, was in an advanced state of decomposition and could not be identified. The man was said to have been dead for at least five or six days.
The police said they received a call for assistance at 7.14pm. Officers with flashlights were seen entering the forested area at 8.30pm. They were followed by Singapore Civil Defence Force personnel carrying a ladder and electric saws to cut down the tree.
They emerged nearly two hours later carrying the body.
Investigations into the unnatural death are ongoing, the police said.
