Bank drops sponsorship of Colour Run here
CIMB Bank Singa-pore has withdrawn as the presenting sponsor of The Colour Run, the bank said yesterday.
The Singapore authorities have approved the permits and licences for the run, and it will proceed as planned on Sentosa this weekend. But due to the extended testing required to ensure that the coloured powder to be used at the event is safe, CIMB was unable to "activate and exercise" its commercial rights and entitlements as a sponsor, the bank said.
Despite being supportive of the Singapore authorities' efforts to test the safety of the powder, the bank decided to "respectfully withdraw" as the presenting sponsor, it said in a statement.
Colour Run participants will still receive a T-shirt, bandana, wristband and temporary tattoo with the CIMB Bank logo.
The fate of the run, which sees runners doused with coloured powder, was briefly in doubt due to safety concerns raised by the use of coloured powder at mass events.
A dust explosion at a "colour party" in Taiwan in June resulted in at least 10 deaths and injured more than 500.
