Up to 90% subsidy for WDA courses

STARTING next month, mid-career workers aged 40 and above will get higher subsidies when they take courses to upgrade their job skills.

Under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy, these workers will have fees subsidised by up to 90 per cent for courses certified by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA).

This is an additional 20 to 40 per cent increase in subsidy for WDA-funded courses for professionals, managers and executives, capped at $50 per hour.

The enhanced subsidy, first announced by Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam in this year's Budget, is meant as an incentive for mid-career workers to build on their existing skill sets or acquire new ones.

The number of WDA-supported courses available to individuals and employers will also increase to more than 8,000 from next month onwards.
