    8 new Zika cases, drop in dengue cases

    AFTER a respite on Tuesday with no new Zika cases reported in Singapore, there were eight new cases as of 3pm yesterday, according to an update on the National Environment Agency (NEA) website.

    This brings the total number of Zika cases here to 341 since last month.

    There are currently seven Zika clusters in Singapore, including the main one in the Aljunied Crescent/Sims Drive/Kallang Way/Paya Lebar Way area. The other clusters are in Bedok North Avenue 3, Joo Seng Road, Bishan Street 12, Elite Terrace in Siglap, Ubi Avenue 1 and Circuit Road.

    Meanwhile, the number of dengue cases last week fell to 242. This was 68 cases fewer than the previous week, stopping three straight weeks of rises with the weekly figure exceeding 300.
