7 killed in US shooting spree, man arrested
SEVEN people were killed and at least three others seriously wounded in Michigan in northern United States in a series of apparently random public shootings, reported the local media.
The carnage happened in three different car parks across Kalamazoo county on Saturday night, reported Kalamazoo Gazette.
Police arrested the suspect, a Kalamazoo resident in his 50s, at 12.40am yesterday when they spotted him in his vehicle on the north side of the county, more than six hours after the first shooting in which a woman was injured.
The man did not put up a fight, said the police.
The second shooting took place before 10.30pm, killing two men, believed to be a father and his son, who were looking at a vehicle at a car dealership.
Around 10.30pm, five people, including a 14-year-old girl, were shot and killed in vehicles in the car park of a restaurant.
"We seem to be dealing with a worst-case scenario, someone driving around shooting," Undersheriff Paul Matyas of the county told NBC News.
The suspect was not identified and the victims' names were not released at press time yesterday.
