Solid drives that are really good-looking
Sony Professional SSD and HDD Portable Storage
SONY makes really good-looking stuff as evidenced in its new professional SSD and HDD storage drives. Housed in solid metal cases with rubber rims to cushion drops of up to 2.3m, the drives (size ranging from 256GB for SSD to 1TB for HDD) are meant for outdoor data backup, particularly for Sony cams.
They have USB 3.0 and Firewire 800 ports, which are some of the fastest interfaces available.
Why Firewire and not Thunderbolt, one might wonder? While Apple has largely abandoned Firewire 800 for Thunderbolt and most PC makers never adopted it in the first place, these Sony devices were primarily designed for use with Sony equipment which have Firewire 800 interface.
Although USB 3.0 can be used with Mac, it would be better if there were a Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 edition. That way, the devices will attract Mac users willing to pay top dollar for solid drives.
