Mac Pro may launch in autumn
APPLE has hinted at the release date of its new cylindrical Mac Pro desktop in a video teaser shown in United States movie theatres over the weekend.
The upcoming Mac Pro features next-generation Intel Xeon processors with up to 12 cores, and dual-workstation GPUs powered by AMD FirePro, according to AFP Relaxnews.
The firepower will make the Mac Pro Apple's fastest desktop computer, with up to 2.5 times faster graphics processing than the previous Mac Pro.
The new Mac Pro will be capable of driving three ultra-high-definition (4K) resolution displays at the same time, said AFP Relaxnews.
The sleek-looking desktop, first shown at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June, also serves as a statement from Apple that the company will not allow rivals Samsung or Google to usurp its status or cool factor.
The teaser trailer shown over the weekend features the new device from several angles, and, according to reports on MacRumors, ends with the line "Fall 2013".
This offers the first real indication of when the new Mac Pro will be launched, according to AFP Relaxnews.
Pricing for the desktop has yet to be announced.
