Linda Chung offers pearls of wisdom
THEY say diamonds are a girl's best friend, but for actress Linda Chung, pearls are the way to go.
Looking resplendent in a teal tube gown and a $2.2-million pearl, diamond and 18K-white-gold multi-strand necklace from Japanese luxury pearl jeweller Mikimoto, the Canadian-born, Hong Kong-based actress was glowing with confidence during the official opening of Mikimoto's flagship boutique at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands on Wednesday.
The piece that Chung wore, the White Bouquet, was specially flown in for the grand opening, as well as the jeweller's 120th-anniversary celebration.
The 29-year-old raved about how the colour and lustre of pearls complemented her complexion, as well as about the timelessness and femininity of the piece.
However, the TVB actress said that she still preferred simple jewellery that goes well with a variety of outfits.
"I like rings because of the thrill I get from flaunting them, and necklaces as well, particularly because of how it complements my tall frame," said the former beauty queen.
While the pearl-diamond combination helped to enhance her presence, she said that a woman's beauty is ultimately linked to true happiness and confidence.
"When a woman finds her other half, who makes her feel happy, confident and beautiful inside, that happy glow shines outwards," she said.
She cited fellow TVB actress Aimee Chan as the epitome of a woman exuding inner beauty - because of her union with actor Moses Chan.
Chung added that a woman's confidence and self-esteem - from her career achievements - also contribute to her beauty.
And Chung, who has been in showbiz for nine years and established herself in Hong Kong's acting and music industries, is an example of a career-oriented woman who shines with confidence.
So, would a career-minded individual like her consider purchasing jewellery as a form of investment?
Yes, she said, adding that she would opt for a pair of pearl earrings or a ring embedded with pearls.
The Mikimoto boutique is at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, L1-21.
