Swim stars to grace Sports Hub in Sept

THE likes of world champion James Magnussen of Australia and Olympic gold medallist Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania will be making a pit stop at the brand-new Singapore Sports Hub in September.

The Singapore Swim Stars competition is set to take place at the OCBC Aquatic Centre and will be a three-day event that includes corporate events, swim clinics and a Kids and Stars relay.

Swimmers confirmed so far also include world champions Cesar Cielo of Brazil, Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark and Olympic winners like Florent Manaudou of France and Jessica Hardy of the United States.

It is understood that American Ryan Lochte has also been invited, but has yet to confirm his participation. Singaporean swimmers will be invited to compete in the event.

This will be the second world-class swimming event to be held in Singapore, after the Fina World Cup, a short-course meet.

The $1.33 billion Sports Hub is due to be opened progressively from April, with the National Stadium due for completion around June.
