HORNACEK FIRED AS SUNS CONTINUE TO LOSE
THE struggling Phoenix Suns sacked their head coach Jeff Hornacek on Monday and replaced him with assistant coach Earl Watson.
The 36-year-old Watson was named interim head coach of the team who have lost 19 of their past 21 NBA games and have a dismal 14-35 record.
Only three teams have worse records this season - the Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets.
WINDS HELP SNEDEKER LIFT TROPHY
AMERICAN Brandt Snedeker won the weather-hit Farmers Insurance Open without hitting a shot on Monday as his closest pursuers succumbed to brutal conditions in southern California.
Snedeker carded a brilliant three-under 69 on Sunday, completing his round shortly before play was halted due to unplayable conditions at Torrey Pines outside San Diego.
He was one stroke behind on-course leader Jimmy Walker at the time and thought it most unlikely his score would hold up for victory. But Snedeker caught a lucky break when the winds continued to whip across the course on Monday.
BRONCOS' TEAM BUSES IN MINOR CRASH
SUPER Bowl week got off to a rocky start for the Denver Broncos as two team buses were involved in a minor accident after a practice session on Monday.
According to a report on NFL's website, the accident happened as the team were returning to their hotel, six days before they play the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara, California.
"No injuries were sustained and the team is back at the hotel," the Broncos said in a statement.
