    Palace move off the bottom

    MAROUANE Chamakh's goal took Crystal Palace off the bottom of the Premier League table as they beat West Ham 1-0 in Tony Pulis' first home game in charge at Selhurst Park in London on Tuesday. Chamakh headed in the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute.

    Pistons end Heat's hot streak

    WITH star guard Dwyane Wade sidelined by sore knees, reigning National Basketball Association champion Miami Heat had their 10-game win streak snapped on Tuesday, falling to the Detroit Pistons 107-97. Kyle Singler's 18 points led seven double-figure scorers for the Pistons.

    World Cup stadiums to miss deadline

    THREE Brazilian World Cup stadiums, including the Sao Paulo arena where two workers were killed in an accident last week, will miss a construction deadline imposed by football's governing body Fifa. All 12 venues for next year's event were to be completed by Dec 31.
