Italian world champion dies during race
ITALY'S powerboating world champion Massimo Rossi has died after suffering head injuries during a race in Germany,
it was announced on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was thrown clear from his boat while cornering during a race at Traben-Trarbach, in the Moselle Valley in the west of the country, and flung against a tree on the embankment.
Massimo's death was confirmed by Vincenzo Iaconianni, president of
Italy's Powerboat Association.
The latter has reportedly said the course was not wide enough and had questioned
the safety arrangements.
Rossi won the world title in the 0-250 class in August.
