Your very own Penang getaway
LESS than two hours away by plane, Penang is a popular getaway destination for Singaporeans. With its rich heritage and delectable food, one can consider buying or investing in a property there as a vacation home.
Malaysian real-estate developer Mah Sing Group has rolled out three freehold projects in Penang.
For those who like to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Ferringhi Residence is an option.
Located in Batu Ferringhi, Ferringhi Residence comprises low-rise condo villas and high-rise resort condominiums, with 20 towers in total. There is a lush forest enveloping its perimeter, and Batu Ferringhi Beach is just 900m away.
Amenities include pebble pavilions and a 9m-long scent trail lined with plants that emit an array of aromas to calm the senses.
Security features at Ferringhi Residence include closed-circuit television cameras - which a fence is equipped with - security patrols and a visitor-vehicle access-control system that records the faces of drivers.
There are 200 residential units in the development, and prices start from RM780 (S$305) per sq ft. It is expected to be ready by September next year.
Another Penang project, The Loft @ Southbay City, can also provide some respite from city life. It is near the recently opened Second Penang Bridge, the longest bridge in South-east-Asia, linking Batu Maung on Penang island with Batu Kawan on the mainland.
The project has two towers, with 78 units each. Each apartment has a high ceiling and large windows, translating into airy, radiant interiors. All units have a sea view, and residents can enjoy leisure and recreational facilities.
There is a card-access security system at the lift lobby, too.
Prices start at about RM1.5 million for a unit. It is expected to be completed in February 2018.
For those who prefer landed properties, Legenda@Southbay, completed last year, is an option.
There are 76 three- and four-storey resort bungalows in the community, which is gated and watched by security guards. The size of a house is between 6,460 and 7,170 sq ft, and the land size one occupies is between 7,524 and 14,467 sq ft.
These modern homes have a resort feel to them, and come with five or six bedrooms and attached bathrooms. Each car porch can fit at least four cars.
Residents can also make use of the development's clubhouse and amenities, including pools, a gymnasium and lounge area.
Prices start from about RM5.1 milion for a house.
