ECZEMA is a skin condition that affects all age groups and both sexes equally.

Even though it is neither life-threatening nor contagious, it affects the well-being of those afflicted and has a negative impact on their social lives.

Eczema is a skin disorder that results in dry, inflamed and severely itchy skin. The intense sensation can result in uncontrollable scratching, which tends to worsen the skin by causing it to bleed.

Eczema sufferers tend to have reduced levels of fat in their skin, causing their skin to be drier than normal.

A 2011 article published in Singapore Health, a Singapore General Hospital publication, reported that one in five people here suffers from eczema, for which there is still no known cure.

Those with eczema can now soothe their itchy and sensitive skin by using Ezeque Skin Therapy, which has no steroids and is specially formulated with natural ingredients.

The Ezeque Skin Therapy consists of a mist spray and a cream.

Among other ingredients, the skin therapy includes two active plant extracts: crystalline ice plant and phytomucin. These two ingredients are cultivated from the South African Namib coastal desert and South Korea, respectively.

Crystalline ice plant and phytomucin are greatly enriched with flavonoids, vitamins and minerals that can help to calm skin aggravation.

According to a 2012 study published by the Advances In Chemical Engineering And Science Journal, the crystalline ice plant is characterised by the presence of natural antioxidant enzymes, which can help protect skin cells from the damaging effects and oxidative stress of free radicals.

Phytomucin contains natural glycoprotein, amino acids, mucin, phytic acid and vitamin C, which enhance the skin's barrier.

To use Ezeque Skin Therapy, spray the solution on the affected area first. Rub the solution into the skin gently with your fingers to aid absorption. Then, apply the cream.

Ezeque Skin Therapy costs $42.90 for both the 30ml mist spray and the 30ml bottle of cream.

A pre-launch promotion - $10 off the regular price - is available from today until next Thursday. The first 50 customers each day can buy three sets of the skin therapy at $75.80.

From Aug 11, customers can buy the products at the SEC lifestyle counter at Takashimaya's household department on level B1.
