Shop away while marvelling at Hokkaido's natural wonders

ANIMAL lovers, rejoice. Here is a holiday with a difference.

Apple Vacations Singapore now offers a tour to Hokkaido, Japan, where you can be at one with nature, yet shop to your heart's content.

Those drawn by nature will have a grand time at the Chitose Salmon Aquarium, which features not only salmon but also 60 types of freshwater fish.

If fur is what you prefer, then a visit to the Bear Ranch will be right up your alley. You can get up close and personal with Japanese brown bears, even feeding them dried apples or biscuits.

But if you would rather shop till you drop, you have that option too. In Sapporo, the largest city on Hokkaido island, you can pick up regional delicacies and locally made gift items when you visit Tanukikoji, the city's oldest shopping area.

You can also check out the many pubs in the area.

Still not satisfied? Your tour will take you to Sapporo Station, where you can find all manner of branded goods, electronics and trendy wear. There is also a visit to a premium outlet where you can purchase branded goods at a discounted price.

Other highlights of the tour include visits to Hokkaido's most famous spa town, Noboribetsu, and Furano's lavender plain, which goes into full bloom in mid-July.
