Purple noodles a foodie hit!
PURPLE has been the symbol of royalty since Roman times.
Now, a type of noodles has taken on that kingly hue.
The good news is, the colour doesn't come from food dye, and it's not some gimmick to attract those who like candy colours.
Instead, Koka Purple Wheat Noodles are instant noodles that are MSG-free.
The fat-free noodles are steam-cooked and baked, and contain no preservatives or artificial colouring.
The purple hue comes from the ingredients: purple wheat and purple corn. Both are high in nutrients.
Purple wheat originated in East Africa. The pigmentation is due to the presence of anthocyanins, the same antioxidants as those found in bilberries and blueberries.
Purple corn is cultivated in coastal areas in Peru. It has a high anthocyanin content - four times that of blueberries.
The noodles, which have a higher wholegrain content, are endorsed by the Health Promotion Board as a Healthier Choice product.
Not only do the Koka Purple Wheat Noodles have great nutritional value, but they also have a firm and smooth texture, can be cooked quickly and have a longer shelf life.
What's more, the noodles come in three flavours: Chilli & Lime, Soy & Vinegar and Aglio Olio.
Their intriguing colour is sure to make them a hit with family and friends.
