STATE-OF-THE-ART technology - that is what Dr Natasha Lim is mad about.

It is also what you can expect to see at her clinic, Dr Natasha Eye Centre.

Located in the Specialists Centre at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, all of the equipment found there is top of the range, from laser company AMO VISX.

Dr Lim is a senior consultant surgeon who trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

She decided to start her own clinic because she wanted to be able to provide her patients with the best services they could get.

Due to the time she spent in Moorfields Eye Hospital, she was privy to all the latest technology available in the market.

She uses only the newest and best machines, such as the iDesign iLasik, which she says has set the standard for laser corrections.

"I was the first in Singapore to bring in the iDesign iLasik," she said. "This was the machine that I used when I was at Moorfields, so I am familiar with it."

According to Dr Lim, the technology in her clinic is so well developed that the United States Navy uses the system to treat its aviators. Nasa is said to use the technology in treatments for its astronauts.

One of Dr Lim's patients, Mr John Hay, 55, underwent lens-implant surgery earlier this month.

He said: "I used to be unable to see small things, and had to wear my spectacles while I worked, which was very inconvenient."

Mr Hay, the owner of Hay Dairies in Kranji, said: "The surgery was very good, and I highly recommend it to everyone... There was no pain, and I went back to work the next day."

And best of all, he has no problems with his vision any longer, he said.

Services available at the clinic include Lasik surgery, the implanting of contact lenses, micro-incision cataract surgery, and cosmetic eyelid surgery.

Catch Dr Lim on Saturday at 11am at her clinic. She will be speaking on childhood myopia, screening and treatment; as well as on Lasik and implantable contact lenses, which can help improve one's lifestyle.

Also catch her on July 6 at 11am at her clinic. Then, she will speak on cataract surgery, as well as premium lens implants.

Dr Natasha Eye Centre is at #04-31/32 Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. To register for the talks, call 6570-2220. For more information, visit www.drnatashalim.com
