Metallica and Matchbox Twenty to gig here

TWO American groups, heavy-metal band Metallica and rock band Matchbox Twenty, will be heading here for full concerts.

Metallica will perform here on Aug 24, while Matchbox Twenty are scheduled to perform on Nov 10.

This will be Metallica's first performance here in 20 years, concert promoter LAMC Productions said.

According to the company, the concert is expected to take place at Changi Exhibition Centre. It will be the first concert to be held there.

"There wasn't a venue big enough for Metallica in Singapore, so we had to make a new one," said Mr Ross Knudson, co-owner of LAMC Productions.

To help concert-goers get to the venue, a shuttle service to and from the concert will be provided at a fee of $5 per trip. The pick-up location and schedule will be announced at a later date, the concert promoter said.

Tickets for the concert are priced from $148 and will go on sale at Sistic on Friday.

As for Matchbox Twenty, this will be the band's first performance in Singapore, said concert promoter Live Nation Lushington.

The four-man band, which are known for hit songs such as Unwell and She's So Mean, are scheduled to hold the concert at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Tickets are priced from $68 and will go on sale at Sistic on Thursday, 10am.
