American rapper, singer and songwriter Azealia Banks has yet to release an album, but her sets at the Governors Ball in New York and the Glastonbury Festival showed that her hit, 212, will be far from being the best thing on Broke With Expensive Taste, due later this year.
The 22-year-old first entered the music scene under the pseudonym Miss Bank$. She was nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist and Best New Artist at this year's Bet Awards.
The wonderful Fatoumata Diawara from Mali sounded great at the Glastonbury Festival, even though the audience didn't have a clue what she was singing. Her debut album, Fatou, helpfully includes translated lyrics.
The 31-year-old, who is based in Paris, was discovered by audiences in Britain after appearing in festivals. She has since worked with Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers and Damon Albarn of British band Blur.
