3 beauty items to pack for a flight
She is known for herbossa nova take on songs, but Singaporean songbird Olivia Ong is admired for one more thing - her flawless skin.
The singer, 27, who recently released her first album of all-Mandarin tracks, Waiting, is the ambassador for Fancl's new Aging Care Line. My Paper caught up with her to ask about her beauty regime.
As a singer, you travel a lot. How do you take care of your skin on flights?
There are three beauty items that I would definitely take along on a flight: lip balm, eye cream and moisturising cream.
However, if it is a long-haul flight, I would include the entire range of the Fancl Moisturizing Line, which includes a face mask and facial washing powder. What's great about the range is that it's available in travel size, so it is light and fuss free.
What is one thing you cannot live without when it comes to beauty and skincare?
A recipe from celebrity nutritionist and blogger Kimberly Snyder. Drinking her Glowing Green Smoothie in the morning keeps me energised and feeling good. I am very thankful for that.
What beauty tips do you have for female working professionals?
Keep your skin hydrated. Fancl's skincare lines are great for this, and are preservative-free and get the job done.
I have sensitive, dry skin, and using preservative-free items means no harsh chemicals on my face, therefore, no adverse reaction.
Another tip is to drink plenty of lemon water and choose to eat healthy often. The secret is to get enough nutrition into your body. When you feel good, you look good. Take vitamins B and C to help boost your system. And it helps to have a positive outlook.
As a female artist, do you feel pressured to live up to the industry's beauty standards?
To be in this industry you have to be somewhat attractive but it doesn't mean you have to follow a standard. I think it's more important to find your own personality and style.
In the long run, what really matters most is having substance as a person.
How would you rate your level of success in this industry? Do you think you are "there" yet?
I use Teresa Teng as my measure of success. So, I'm definitely not there yet. But I am enjoying the process; I enjoy challenging myself.
I never want to stop learning and I never want to stop improving.
