Woman found murdered in Choa Chu Kang flat

RESIDENTS of Block 296A, Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2, would often hear heated quarrels in a corner unit on the 11th floor of their block.

What they did not expect was to see the unit become a crime scene yesterday morning, with police officers streaming in and out of the flat.

A 41-year-old Chinese woman was found dead in a room of the flat. Her 58-year-old husband, also from China, was arrested. Police are treating the case as murder and investigations are ongoing.

The police, who received a call requesting assistance at about 4am yesterday, found the woman lying unconscious in the unit. Paramedics later pronounced her dead.

My Paper understands that the suspect was in the flat when police arrived and did not put up any resistance when arrested. The couple have a teenage daughter, said neighbours.

Details are sketchy but My Paper understands that a weapon was not found at the scene.

A neighbour living in the adjacent unit said the flat was always "very crowded", with people coming and going.

She described the tenants as being "not very friendly".

Another neighbour living on the floor above said he lodged a complaint with the police sometime in the past six months because of loud quarrelling he heard coming from the flat.
