US plans more intense attacks against Syria

THE Pentagon is readying more intense and longer attacks on Syria than originally planned, set to last three days, the Los Angeles Times reported yesterday.

War planners now aim to unleash a barrage of missile strikes, to be followed swiftly by additional attacks on targets that may have been missed or remain standing, the Times cited officials as saying.

Pentagon planners are considering using Air Force bombers and five US missile-equipped warships to launch air-to-surface and cruise missiles from far beyond the range of Syria's air defences, said the LA Times.
