    New parallel Woodlands-to-CBD bus service

FROM Monday, a new SMRT parallel bus service will connect commuters in the Woodlands neighbourhoods to the Central Business District (CBD).

Service 951E will be the 12th bus service to be rolled out under the Land Transport Authority's (LTA's) Bus Service Enhancement Programme, said a joint statement from SMRT Buses and LTA yesterday.

The service will operate two one-way trips on weekday mornings at 7.30am and 7.45am from Woodlands Street 82, Woodlands Avenue 4 and Woodlands Avenue 1 to areas within the CBD.

This includes Orchard Road, Bras Basah Road, Nicoll Highway, Collyer Quay, Raffles Quay and Shenton Way.

On weekday evenings, two one-way trips at 6.15pm and 6.30pm will connect commuters in areas such as Anson Road, Fullerton Road, Esplanade Drive, Stamford Road and Orchard Road to Woodlands.

Mr Tan Kian Heong, vice-president of SMRT Buses, said that the service will use the Central Expressway and Seletar Expressway and there will be fewer bus stops along its route.
