Man killed in Sabah shooting
A 44-YEAR-OLD businessman was killed in a drive-by shooting as he walked out of an Indian-Muslim coffee shop at Beverly Hills commercial complex in Sabah's Penampang district, Malaysia, at about 10.15pm last Saturday.
The victim, identified by police as Mr Teong Choon Kwong, was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but was pronounced dead yesterday, news agency Bernama reported.
Mr Teong, who was from Kuching, Sarawak, operated a resort in Dinawan, Sabah. He was shot in the right rib by the assailant.
The police said Mr Teong was shot by an unidentified man in a waiting car which sped off immediately.
Police in a patrol car nearby who heard the gunshot arrived at the scene and took the man to the hospital.
Road blocks across the city were set up immediately by the police in a bid to capture the assailants, The Star/Asia News Network reported.
