Fifth man charged in Orchard slashing
A FIFTH man was charged yesterday over the slashing of a full-time national serviceman (NSF) outside Cathay Cineleisure Orchard on June 15.
Muhammad Hasnul Redha Abdullah, 19, is accused of being part of an unlawful assembly with four others, whose common aim was to cause hurt to NSF Wilson Siau, 20, in Grange Road.
The victim was left with injuries to his head and arms.
Hasnul and Muhammad Fahmi Razali, 20, were allegedly armed with parangs during the attack.
Hasnul is being remanded for a week at the Central Police Division lock-up.
Fahmi and Mizra Abdul Azman, 24, were back in court yesterday after a week-long remand. The prosecution asked that the pair be held for another week for further investigations.
Mizra tried to get bail but was turned down by the court. A bail review has been scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.
The three men's cases will come up for mention again on Tuesday. The other two men charged - Muhammad Fairuz Abdul Ghani and Muhammad Nazmir Osman, both 20 - will be back in court on Friday.
