THIS year's National Day Parade (NDP) will kick off with one of the "largest footprints" to date, featuring new defence and security equipment, and more personnel from Singapore's military and Home Team.

About 40 defence vehicles will take part in the Dynamic Defence Display, during which the Singapore Armed Forces' Light Strike Vehicle Mark II will make its NDP debut.

Also making their maiden appearance are the Singapore Civil Defence Force's Compressed Air Foam Fire Engine and the Singapore Police Force's Armoured Personnel Carrier.

These details were announced during a media briefing at the Marina Bay Floating Platform yesterday.

Audiences can also look forward to the traditional Parade and Ceremony (P&C) segment, which will feature the well-loved aerial flypasts and marching contingents.

In line with this year's NDP theme of Many Stories, One Singapore, a video of Singaporeans sharing their reflections on Total Defence and a photo montage of past presidential inspections will be shown.

"What we want is to create a walking-down-memory-lane effect," said P&C chairman Simon Lee.
