Glee star Cory Monteith found dead
GLEE star Cory Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room last Saturday, the Canadian authorities said. He was 31.
Police chief Doug LePard confirmed at a press conference that Monteith's body was found by hotel staff in the room on the 21st floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.
There were no signs of foul play, police said, and the cause of death was not immediately apparent.
Canadian-born Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on the hit television show since it began in 2009, spent time in rehab earlier this year.
He had been open about his issues with substance abuse, previously admitting that he began using drugs at age 13 and went into rehab at 19 after his mother and friends intervened.
In Singapore yesterday, Gleeks, who are fans of Glee, mourned the death of the actor.
Senior marketing executive Daphne Yeo, 30, who has been a fan of the show since its first season, said: "Finn Hudson was a quintessential character in Glee. He showed everyone that even popular jocks like himself were capable of human insecurities...Cory played the character so well."
Manager Celine Ong, 29, said: "It will be sad to see how (the Glee writers) will write in his character's exit."
