DEAD SEA IN DYING THROES AS WATER RUNS DRY AT "ALARMING" RATE
THE Dead Sea, in the middle of a desert in Jerusalem, may soon be living up to its name. The deepest body of salt water in the lowest part of the earth is drying up at an alarming rate.
"The water is dropping and the rate of dropping is about a metre a year on average. It's dropping very, very fast," Professor Amotz Agnon, a geologist who has been following developments of the Dead Sea since the 1980s, was quoted by Xinhua news agency as saying.
While industrial plants are said to be contributing to the problem, the drying is believed to be worsened by the increasingly dry global climate.
'HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH' TO SERVE SHANGHAI DELIGHTS
DISNEY'S first resort in mainland China will serve "special Shanghai cuisine" when it opens in June.
Among the offerings at Shanghai Disney Resort - which has 600 to 1,000 canteens and restaurants - are a Mickey Pork Cake, Donald Duck Waffle and Braised Pork Knuckle in Dark Soy Sauce.
There will also be dishes with flavours inspired from other major regions such as Sichuan, Shandong and Hunan.
