Trade in old gadgets for vouchers, win prizes at Comex

COMEX is back this weekend at Suntec Singapore and the consumer electronics fair has an even better trade-in programme this time around and other activities to look out for.

Unlike before - when you could trade in only laptops for cash vouchers usable at Comex booths - smartphones, tablets, monitors and desktop PCs will be accepted this year.

The trade-in counters are located at the entrance of Hall 402/403.

Used game consoles, such as the PlayStation 3, can also be traded in at the entrance of Hall 604.

But there are exceptions. Items not eligible for trade-in include "do-it-yourself" desktops built from scratch, single-core processor gadgets, CRT monitors, faulty LCD or LED monitors, and devices that have been dismantled or heavily tampered with.

Other faulty gadgets can be traded in and they will be re-valued accordingly.

If you are unsure whether your gadget (game consoles aside) can be traded in, you can check out this site for more details:

You don't have to fill in the online form to get a quote for your gadget, as the show is now on. Instead, take your device to Comex and a team will assess if the gadget can be exchanged and quote you a value.

At the Gamex area, there's a showcase of the latest games as well as competitions you can take part in. Sony, Microsoft and Blizzard are among the gaming brands involved, with titles such as Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Heroes Of The Storm, Street Fighter V and Gears Of War: Ultimate Edition on show.

Making a return, the Tech Showcase zone features some of the latest gadgets in town. These include the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro and Samsung's virtual reality headset, the Gear VR Innovator Edition for the Galaxy S6.

Visitors stand a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 4G+, as well as the Gear VR headset when they take part in a classic shoot 'em up arcade game.

Comex will have plenty of booth babes. Remember to take selfies with them because you could be one of three winners to walk away with $300 each for snapping the best shots. To participate, upload the photos to Facebook or Instagram with the hashtag #COMEXbabes.

Also, for every $50 spent at Comex, you get a chance to win prizes in a lucky draw. Up to $12,388 in cash is up for grabs.

Comex is on 12pm-9pm daily until Sunday at Suntec Singapore. Entry is free.
