    Taeyeon splits with boyfriend

THREE members of K-pop girl group Girls' Generation have officially broken up with their romantic partners, as leader Taeyeon reportedly ended her 15-month relationship with EXO's Baekhyun.

The phenomenal hallyu couple, who made their romantic relationship public in June last year, had been dating on-and-off for a long time, but recently decided to make a solid decision and call it quits, reported The Korea Herald.

Sources close to the singers' management firm, SM Entertainment, claimed that the duo want to continue to be friends, said The Korea Times. The singers were also said to have drifted apart as they were busy pursuing their careers.

Last year, Taeyeon and Baekhyun were caught on a late night date by journalists. Photos of the pair spread around the Internet like wildfire, splitting their fandoms and leading to reactions ranging from excitement to disappointment among their fans, The Straits Times reported.

SM Entertainment later confirmed the pair's relationship and the singers apologised to their fans. Before boarding a plane at the airport, Taeyeon reportedly turned to fans, bowed her head and gave a tearful apology. She also gave a lengthy apology on Instagram.

In South Korea, pop stars are usually not allowed to date openly as they are branded 100 per cent dedicated to their fans. They usually proclaim that their fans take the place of their boyfriends or girlfriends. As a result, the duo's canoodling in public felt like a betrayal.

In August, Girls' Generation's Yoona confirmed her break from singer-actor Lee Seung Gi after two years, attributing the split to the busy schedule each maintained. Tiffany also split from 2PM's Nichkhun in the middle of this year.

Fans were also upset with the latter's relationship because they badly wanted Nichkhun to date f(x)'s Victoria - his co-star on the reality TV programme We Got Married - instead, The New Paper reported.

Starting with rumours about Yoona that went viral in January 2013, many members of Girls' Generation have confirmed their relationships with other celebrities, sending shockwaves through the local entertainment scene.

Now, however, the romances seem to have lost their lustre and they are facing break-ups due to their busy schedules.

Currently, members Sooyoung and Yuri are maintaining their relationships with actor Jung Kyung Ho and star baseball player Oh Seung Hwan respectively.

Yuri has been receiving flak for her relationship. Netizens have been nothing short of rude when it comes to Oh's physical appearance, calling him "ugly" and "basic-looking". He is South Korea's all-time best closing pitcher.

Girls' Generation recently received 19 awards through various TV music ranking programmes for their fifth album, Lion Heart.
