HUGGING and kissing his wife of five months, pop star Wang Leehom announced at a party after his Sunday concert in Xian that they are having a baby.

Doctoral student Michiko Nishimura, alias Li Jinglei, is said to be five months pregnant, reported NetEase website. She wore a loose top and flats at the party, said the report.

The singer-songwriter married Ms Nishumura, 27, in November last year.

Wang, who celebrated his 38th birthday on Saturday, held his wife and said: "Thank you for giving me the greatest gift."

He announced that he and his wife would soon start a new life as "one plus one equals three", and kissed her.

He said he did not know the gender of the baby, but had nicknamed the child Wang Yi, or Wang The First. Fans call the star Wang Er, or Wang The Second. The Chinese character Yi has the least strokes, said the singer.

He said he was moved to tears when he heard of his wife's pregnancy. His wife will give birth in Taiwan, where postnatal care is better, he added.
