Remember the Motorola Razr? It may return in June

IN THE early 2000s, Motorola was a force in mobile phones - and its Motorola Razr was one of the coolest phones you could get your hands on.

A teaser clip uploaded on May 19 to video-sharing site YouTube hinted that the iconic flip phone may be making a comeback.

The 45-second clip shows a typical high-school setting, with teenagers sending SMSes to each other on their classic Razrs, giving off a retro vibe.

It ends with a phrase TTYL - SMS slang for "talk to you later" - on a plain white background. This is followed by the Motorola logo above the date June 9, 2016 - the company's next mobile-phone launch date.

The Motorola Razr V3 is ranked on Wikipedia as the ninth best-selling mobile phone of all time.

While an Android-powered Razr would stand out, given that most smartphones today look similar, how the company tweaks the phone to provide the type of large, high-resolution screens consumers have grown accustomed to would be something to watch out for.
