My Paper's yoga event under the stars is back
STRETCH out under the stars in the heart of the city at My Paper's yoga event, which is making a comeback this year with two different yoga styles.
My Paper Yogaspiration 2016 will feature hatha yoga, a combination of physical yoga postures and mental discipline which can reduce stress and increase strength, and yin yoga, a quiet style based on theories derived from Chinese medicine and Taoism.
The sessions will be held by experts from yoga partner True Yoga and are suitable even for beginners.
The event, presented by China Life Insurance Singapore, will take place on Aug 19 from 6pm to 9.30pm at The Lawn@Marina Bay.
Each participant will receive a goodie bag worth more than $100, including a yoga mat and towel.
Last year's inaugural event drew about 500 participants including human-resource executive Jasmine Tan, who said it was "a good workout" with nice ambience.
Some tips for participants, given by a True Yoga spokesman, include not eating for two to three hours before the yoga session, as practising on a full stomach might cause cramps, nausea and discomfort.
"Drink more water throughout the day before you practise," said the spokesman.
"But do not overdo it just before the session as your body needs time to absorb the water for hydration."
Participants are also advised to wear comfortable clothing that is not too loose or requires constant adjusting.
