    MasterPass offers easier AXS payments

PAYING bills using the AXS mobile app or on its website can now be less of

    a hassle with the addition

    of a digital wallet option.

MasterCard users can settle their payments on the AXS m-Station app and e-Station Internet browser by using their MasterPass wallets on either platform.

MasterPass is a payment service where consumers store their card information in a digital "wallet",

    as well as other details,

    like addresses for

    online purchases.

The extension, which launched on July 20,

    is aimed at speeding up

    the paying process,

    said MasterCard and AXS

    in a joint press release.

Previously, payment modes accepted on the

    AXS mobile app were

    eNets Debit and

    DBS Paylah!.

Meanwhile, users of the AXS m-station can opt for eNETS, DBS/POSB MasterCard debit card,

DBS PayLah! and MasterCard debit and credit cards. But they usually have to go through more steps.

For instance, paying by a Mastercard credit or debit card on the website requires the user to key in his card number, expiry date,

CVV number and one-time password sent to their mobile phones.

In contrast, MasterPass requires the user's password and a one-time password sent to his phone.

Said Deborah Heng, group head and general manager of MasterCard Singapore: "Settling bills

    are part and parcel

    of everyday life.

    "What we have done

is leverage an already convenient platform...

    to make payments

    even simpler."

A spokesman for MasterCard said the MasterPass service

was rolled out in Singapore in June 2014.

Other merchants offering this payment option in Singapore include the ComfortDelgro app,, Shaw Theatres, SilkAir and Singapore Airlines, she added.
