Malaysia's biggest rock fest back with a sting

ROCKAWAY 2016, Malaysia's biggest rock festival, returns after three years with a line-up of over 30 international and local acts, including Scorpions, Wolfmother, Butterfingers, Wings, Taking Back Sunday and Third Eye Blind.

This year's event will be separated into two segments - the Rockaway Weekender on Oct 29 and 30, and the festival proper on Nov 19.

The Rockaway Weekender is essentially a mini festival at the Sepang International Circuit with Scorpions headlining on Oct 29, accompanied by Malaysian veteran rockers Wings and Muzza's Mayhem.

Australian metal band Wolfmother will take the stage on Oct 30, accompanied by local acts like Artefacts, WTNSS and Daarchlea.

The festival proper on Nov 19 will be held at Bukit Jalil Extreme Park, and will be headlined by arguably Malaysia's most iconic alternative rock band, Butterfingers.

They are making a comeback eight years after last album Kembali, just in time for their 20th anniversary.

International bands lined up for the festival include alternative rock band Third Eye Blind (best known for hits like Semi-Charmed Life and Jumper), Taking Back Sunday and The Get Up Kids.

On the local front, Malaysian legends Alleycats, Zainal Abidin, Hujan x OAG, One Buck Short, Lume and Prana are set to perform.

The best part for fans is that this is only the first phase of announcements of the line-up so there could be even more acts to follow.
